Required Training

All adoptive families are required to complete a minimum of 10 hours (China requires 12 hours) of adoption related training. AdoptTLC believes pre-adoptive training to be paramount in the adoption journey, and therefore requires all adoptive families adopting complete one of the below training options.



For families adopting an infant domestically:


Register and complete of the domestic infant adoption training package at Creating a Family or Adoption Learning Partners.


Depending on the number of hours contained in the package, you may need to take additional hours to meet the total hours required. You and if applicable, your spouse, will receive a certificate of training for these courses. These courses are very thorough and cover several important topics on adoption.



For families adopting internationally:


Register and complete of the Hague Package for International Adoption or if you are adopting from China, complete the Hague (China) Package at Creating a Family or Adoption Learning Partners.


Depending on the number of hours contained in the package, you may need to take additional hours to meet the total hours required. You and if applicable, your spouse, will receive a certificate of training for these courses. These courses are very thorough and cover several important topics on adoption.

If you have already completed some adoption training, please feel free to call AdoptTLC and we can discuss if you will need to take additional training or not. Also, if your placing agency has specific training that they require you to take, we will review the training information and determine if any additional training is needed.
